Unboxing: Peakfit Challenge!

Due to a series of unfortunate events regarding my mail, I literally stayed home to wait for the postman to come by to pick up the package and safely throw it onto my sofa as I ran out the door, sped down the 110S, and manage to do 6 hours worth of nonstop experiments in 4 hours.  After picking up my husband for another commute through rush hour, I got to unbox my long awaited PeakFit Challenge:

PeakFit Unopened -- and Hanu's paws

PeakFit Opened! Shrinkwrap galore.

Rotation Calendar, Nutrition Guide, Anywhere Workout Poster, etc.

The Initial Thoughts

  • I was disappointed to see the the cardboard disc holder, reminiscent of Turbofire.  However, Peakfit’s design is worse because my trying to put a disc back gave it unnecessary scratches and gave me unnecessary frustration.  I’m making (LEGAL) digital backup of my new DVDs to avoid losing everything as I fear with Turbofire.
  • The bands on the other hand are AWESOME.  They feel rather well made and tons of resistance.  I absolutely can’t wait to use them.
  • The measuring tape was sort of “whatever” as I tossed it aside to look at the rotation calendar.  After spending way too much time creating the calendar in my Gmail account, I’m looking at it with hope.  I am slightly down that they didn’t bother to create multiple calendars.  Peakfit may create it later to put up on the web for their fledgling website , but methinks with their terrible customer service that it won’t happen for a while.
  • The nutrition guide…to me is absurd.  I’m not upset with them saying women should target 1200-1300 calories while men get a whopping 500 more (ok, maybe a little upset) — I’m more annoyed with their insane recipe guidelines for the “strong week”.  It looks great for a housewife who has all the time in the world to be cooking or have access even to a refrigerator. I WORK.  I’m out of the house around 10+ hours/ day.  To do that plan, I’ll have to figure out items that I can substitute reasonable both calorie wise and nutritionally wise, but its going to be a major PIA.  They do give you more reasonable “choices” later on about how to eat your calorie bank up in the day which I do appreciate, but given the order of the literature, I had a “GUFFAW!” moment.  So, maybe read from the back to the front avoid the reaction.
I’m super excited to try PeakFit and will be doing my Fit Test on Saturday morning (if all goes well).  I will eagerly post up my pathetic results too when it happens.  (I am slightly concerned because I managed to tweak my knee in the last two days so if its still hurting, I’m delaying the whole rotation).  Honestly, I have a gut feeling that if I don’t follow to a strict diet that its going to be a repeat of Turbofire: tons of fun workouts but no weight loss.  So, I’m trying to channel that gut feeling into an effective motivator to get control of my food intake.  I’m feeling good — the unboxing wasn’t nearly as exciting when I got STS, but I was 20lbs thinner so maybe everything was just more exciting then.

Wish me luck!

P.S.  To those of you who wish to order Peakfit — Please order over the phone and not through the web.  My own web order got “lost” like a bunch of other clients.  I placed a phone order which was processed the very next day to find a couple days later that my web order also processed a whole week later.  So, now I have a second Peakfit coming to me that I don’t need.  I contacted DEMG who gave me an RMA on the strict decision that I get return shipping paid for, but if there is anyone local (LA Metro) area who would like to try Peakfit, please contact me and perhaps you can take the extra item off my hand without going through the hassle that is DEMG.
